Yesterday, we woke up in a hotel on the southern end of the Dead Sea and went to bed at a hotel in the north of Israel.
In the morning, we toured around the Judean desert a bit and then got our adventuring in by rappelling down a cliff. Here, we are listening to the safety rules. One person made a joke, yelling after all the rules, “Can you tell me that again? I wasn’t listening.” Without missing a beat, the Israeli said, “Then, you die.” These guys are tough.
When I say ‘we’, I certainly do not mean to include me! However, almost everyone else went, some conquering significant fear to do so. It was impressive to watch.
They set up an amazing picnic right in the middle of nowhere – brisket, schnitzel, salads, hummus, desserts.
We got to experience something unusual – rain in the desert:
And then, we drove up to gorgeous Kibbutz Hagoshrim, where we will be for a couple of days before we pop back down to Lake Kinneret for the dragon boat festival. The scenery as we drove was beautiful, but you’ll have to wait until I get more of Dan or Peter’s photos on DBI’s Facebook page for that, because I”m not good enough to get good shots from the moving bus. Here’s one of Peter’s, though.
