The Dragon Boat Israel Festival is held on the shores of the beautiful Sea of Galilee (also called Lake Kinneret). The closest town to the race site is Tiberius. Established 2,000 years ago, Tiberius is not large, with a population of 40,000. There are several hotels in the area, but your best bet for finding convenient accommodations and transportation to and from the races would be to sign up for our Participant’s Package. It will give you three nights in the area with most meals included, as well as a shuttle service to and from the hotel to the Festival events. It also includes entrance into our Thursday evening Gala Festival dinner at Hamat Gader Spa.
Hamat Gader Spa is built on natural hot springs and was the location of a spa in ancient Roman times. It has gorgeous ruins, a crocodile farm you can tour, several pools, and a large open area where DBI holds a dinner welcoming the paddlers to our Festival.
You can sign up for the Participant’s Package alone, or you can build it into a larger tour package. Click here to download the tour package sign-up form, and find out more about travelling to by checking out our Discover Israel page.
